Curatorial Archives and Cultural Memory

FORA’s research programme begins from a simple premise: contemporary art from the Caucasus and Central Asia cannot be separated from the archives, oral histories, and migratory routes that shape how works are read across borders.

This placeholder entry outlines how we document curatorial process—collecting installation photography, correspondence, and artist statements alongside public-facing exhibitions. The aim is to make institutional memory visible without reducing artworks to documentation alone.

Future updates will connect specific exhibitions to their research trails, including loan agreements, conservation notes, and public programmes that extended the life of each project beyond its opening week.

This research strand will expand with interviews, annotated bibliographies, and exhibition case studies as new material is prepared for publication.
