The artist states: "In moments of collapse, when the world splinters and the sky swirls uncontrollable, the instinct is not to run, but to gather. One held to the chest, one carried on the back; both safe, both first. This piece speaks to the primal tenderness we extend to those who cannot protect themselves, and the quiet vow we make to them: "not without you". Set against a tempest of color and motion, the stillness of the girl and her cats reads as a deliberate counter-position, as softness becomes a form of endurance, and proximity a mode of protection. The image echoes conditions of conflict and collapse, in which "love" stands for a kind of "armor". This dynamic aligns with Ghavami’s broader approach, where animals move between dependency and protection, reflecting exchanges of care.
