Javid Ilham Feelings Beyond Reach (2025) framed: 70h × 90w cm Oil on canvas
Dominated by a dense register of burgundy, red, and pink, 'Feelings Beyond Reach' unfolds within a sharply defined interior where color structures the space. Darker tones settle across the floor, while lighter shades articulate the rigid geometry of the room, shifting subtly as the eye moves. Anchoring the composition, an old-fashioned meat grinder is placed on a table, processing a bouquet of wildflowers. What emerges is no longer distinct, but reduced to a continuous pink matter that almost spreads into the surrounding field or dictates it. In the background, a human figure appears only as a silhouette, caught in the moment of leaving through a dark, door-like opening cut into the wall. The body is barely articulated; its features remain indistinct, and the face merges entirely with the surface behind it. Positioned between presence and departing, the figure withdraws as the act in the foreground persists. The composition holds this imbalance without resolution on what is being processed and what is already beyond reach.
