Huseyn Jalil Selective Series (2023)
framed: 30h × 22.5w cm
Photographic and digital print on matte paper

The 'Selective Series' interrogates overproduction in contemporary culture. Today’s visual landscape is defined by excess: images, texts, and objects continuously reproduced in industrial quantities, dissolving distinctions between what endures and what vanishes without notice. Against this backdrop, the artist created more than one thousand photographs, each subjected to chemical intervention that altered their form - pushing the imagery toward unpredictable transformation as colors shift, materials react, and repetition results in mutation. From this vast archive, thirty works were selected. If biological selection directs the evolution of species, here it governs the evolution of the artwork itself. The series asserts that even within systems driven by seriality and reproduction, uniqueness persists - not by default, but through filtration.
