Anar Huseynzada Eclipse (2017) framed: 140h × 150w cm Oil on canvas
‘Eclipse’ draws the viewer into a liminal space where reality hovers on the edge of illusion. At its center, partially translucent, as if dissolving into the landscape, is a spectral figure. A surface in front of him only vaguely suggests a table. This table, more akin to a stretch of earth, converges with a black, consuming horizon line. The contours of the objects are vague. Behind the figure, the vision of a home drifts in stillness. Framed by an eclipse, the composition signals the approaching total darkness. Spatial logic is disrupted on the canvas, scale and perspective bend here, leaving the viewer uncertain of what is closer and what is further away. In this quiet unraveling, ‘Eclipse’ questions the nature of vision, presence, and the substance of the real.
This artwork is an original piece and has been personally signed by the artist.
