Anar Huseynzada Nomad (2020) framed: 120h × 100w cm Acrylic on canvas
The nomad’s journey unfolds across vast deserts and countless cities. He is driven by a quest: to discover the nature of truth, justice, and love, and ultimately to ascend to a divine realm. Whether he finds these answers is irrelevant; what matters is that he rises above worldly desires and mundane concerns. In his pursuit, he embodies true freedom, unbound and elevated beyond the ordinary. Anar’s inspiration is particularly evident in his portrait series ‘Səyyah’, which can translate to ‘nomad’. These portraits depict estranged and intimate characters . Their gazes, directed at the viewer, are alive and charged with inner energy, yet maintain a sense of detachment, like the winds of the steppe. The portraits are marked by expressiveness: sharply defined facial features, skin weathered by sun, time, or wind, bearing the imprint of existence and experience. Anar’s nomads are neither sterile nor lifeless - their vitality is showcased through a vibrant color palette, carefully chosen with a refined sense of harmony.
