Anar Huseynzada Last Supper (2015) framed: 100h × 100w cm Acrylic on canvas
Deliberately structured, this composition centers on a modest table, where a single cup and a loaf of bread serve as quiet symbols of communication. Gathered around it are thirteen figures, twelve rendered with varying degrees of clarity, seated across from one another, some partially obscured, others more fully revealed. At the head of the table sits the thirteenth figure: indistinct, veiled in shadow, its silhouette elusive and unreachable. This intentional obscurity contrasts with the partial visibility of the surrounding forms, drawing the viewer into a space where presence and absence coexist. Inspired by the biblical passage from ‘Matthew 26:26’, the work reframes the iconic scene, where the sacred remains just out of sight, and the divine, though near, resists full comprehension.
