Sahar Ghavami Home, again (2025)
framed: 120h × 90w cm
Acrylic on canvas

'Home, again' approaches belonging as a carried condition. For Sahar Ghavami, an Iranian artist currently based in Dubai, the notion of home remains under constant negotiation, defined by a state of recognition that exists without the need to answer where one is from. At the center of the composition, a girl with pink hair, one of Ghavami’s recurring figures, leans into an embrace, surrounded by a grouping of animals. Plush and wild, domesticated and untamed, their presence dissolves distinctions. Fur and hands merge in places, as shapes soften and blur, establishing a shared field of closeness and continuity. The image proposes a redefinition of home. Constructed not as a physical place, but as a condition, formed through warmth, contact, and a mode of acceptance that precedes language and geography.
